Stefano Domenicali’s Attempt to Shun Max Verstappen’s Retirement Speculations Backfires as Fans Misinterpret the F1 CEO’s Comments

Stefano Domenicali fell victim to social media too. The F1 CEO, who was recently being praised for helping the people affected in Imola, is now being trolled as fans misinterpret his comments regarding Max Verstappen’s retirement rumors. What did Domenicali say and how are fans trolling him?

Max Verstappen has brought up his retirement rumors not once, but multiple times in the past couple of months. The Dutchman explained how he already does not like the sprint format and if FIA makes any changes to it then they will risk him retiring from the sport. These comments were made when FIA and F1 introduced the changed sprint format. Verstappen also hinted at his retirement when he explained his disliking toward the PR and promotional stuff, suggesting how just a couple more years of all this and then he’ll be free. 

Stefano Domenicali recently opened up about Max Verstappen’s retirement comments by giving insights into it. The F1 CEO suggested that he discussed the following issue with Max Verstappen before the race in Miami. He explained how Max Verstappen is still hungry for more titles and is likely to stay in the sport for a considerable amount of time. 

According to gpblog.com, Stefano Domenicali said, “I discussed the issues with Max before the last race in Miami. He said he loved the sport and what he was doing. He is World Champion and is fighting for a third title. He was born in a car. I would say he is likely to stay longer than me. It’s not a problem.”

Some expressed how Max Verstappen being born in a car would actually be such a Verstappen thing as they referred to how Jos Verstappen was onto Max to become a world champion ever since he was a kid.

Others trolled Domenicali by suggesting that this was the first good thing to come out of his mouth and by explaining how everyone will stay in the sport longer than he is supposed to.
