Valtteri Bottas surprises George Russell
Alfa Romeo and Haas F1 team surprised everyone on the grid with excellent results. Valtteri Bottas on debut, had an excellent qualifying session with a P6, while his teammate Guanyu Zhou finished P15 on his first-ever qualifying session in F1. In the meantime, Kevin Magnussen finished P7 even though he had hydraulic issues with his car. As a result, the American-based team appears in Q3 for the very first time since 2019.
Meanwhile, George Russell and Mercedes continued to struggle with issues and could not match the top 2 teams. The new Mercedes driver in particular had a poor result as he ended in ninth. Russell finishing behind Valtteri Bottas is not what the Silver Arrows expected. However, the good news for the Brackley team is the race is yet to happen and they will look to bounce back from a poor qualifying.
