The world of Formula 1, including the drivers, experienced their first break from racing after the season resumed. However, for some like Valtteri Bottas, the one-week wait between races was too long. The sworn Australian was in Adelaide to kick things off ahead of the Australian GP and get his racing fix. He was also accompanied by Australian motor racer Craig Lowndes.
Ever since he started dating Australian Olympic cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, Bottas has fallen in love with the country and he’s slowly morphing into a true Aussie. He proved his inclination toward the land down under by kicking things off at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. The local festival started back in 2014, is an annual motorsport event that uses a shortened version of the old Australian GP track in Adelaide.

This year’s event has charmed its way into the heart of the Finnish driver and also Craig Lowndes among many others. It features various categories of cars like Formula 1, V8 Supercars, and Heritage Touring Cars, that take to the track for demonstration runs. Similarly, Bottas stuck to his area of expertise and drove an F1 car from the 1991 season.
He drove the Leyton House CG911 whereas Craig Lowndes was in the Arrow team’s A10B from the 1997/98 season.
The Finn can take a break and race casually before he’s down to brass tax ahead of the weekend. In fact, he will have to be on top of his game throughout as his contract expires at the end of the season. However, speaking about the future, Bottas has a clear vision.

Since joining the Sauber family, Bottas has not been anything but brilliant for the team. Given the tools, he’s performed at the highest level and scored points whenever possible. However, he, along with most of the grid finds himself without a contract beyond 2024. So what are his expectations?
The Finn expects to stay put, bide his time, and wait for the Audi makeover. He believes he still has some unfinished business and with a top brand like Audi, he will be able to close the F1 chapter in his life.

“F1 is the number one thing for me. I’m still hungry to get back on the podium eventually. The Audi project could be the next opportunity,” he confessed. Being part of Audi would be my number one priority and preference. But if for some reason not, then absolutely I would talk to [other teams]. I want to be around because I feel like I still have some unfinished things in this sport.”
He hasn’t elaborated on the unfinished business. It could be something specific or sometimes it’s just a feeling and the feeling to quit hasn’t come to Bottas yet. It will be interesting what seat the the Finn lands for himself in the next two years.
