A lot of rumors have been revolving around the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, ever since Mercedes decided to extend the deadline of their contract announcement. Some opined that Lewis would move to a different team, while some went a bit ahead and had their bets on his retirement altogether.

However, it looks like the Briton will not be walking away from F1 anytime soon. His father, Anthony Hamilton, revealed that Lewis confirmed in a phone call that he will continue enjoying his racing career.

He loves racing, he loves what he does. He has a voice now in the sport, which is also fantastic. But as far as I’m aware, he’s carrying on racing.

It’s a definite, as far as I know. The last time I spoke to him yesterday, he’s definitely carrying on racing.”

Thus, reconsidering Anthony’s words, Lewis will most likely stick with Mercedes for maybe another couple of years. However, the bigger question of retirement will potentially rise beyond that point.

At the moment his achievements, we hope, are inspiring young kids who have a dream they want to achieve.”

So, can he lift that eighth title in reality to carry himself onto the top of the record books? Well, it all hinges on the result of ongoing contract talks.
