Audi announced its entry into the premier class from 2026 onwards. The German car manufacturers used a press conference ahead of the Belgian GP to announce their entry.

For the announcement and unveiling of the Audi car, all the F1, FIA, and Audi top brass were present. The German car manufacturers also announced the same through their social media handles with a video.

However, the car unveiled at the press conference is just a concept vehicle. Audi’s social media handle also clarified with a tweet stating, “The vehicle shown is a concept vehicle that is not available as a production model.”

Audi has not been the part of F1 for more than 24 hours and the team’s social media has already started a war of words. The tweet with the video announcement captioned, “Rumor has it: Rings are the new stars” is a direct dig at Mercedes.

That’s not all, the tweet also has a link to Audi’s media center website. A line that will especially tease Mercedes states, “This is the first time in more than a decade that a Formula 1 power train will be built in Germany.”

Audi gets a swift reply from Mercedes as Twitter picks up on the war of words

Mercedes’ social media handle did not back down and was ready with a swift reply. The team’s social media posted a photo of the W13 from Spa with the caption, “The vehicle shown is a concept vehicle that is not available as a production model. 😘”

This was a direct reply to Audi’s previous tweet about the car that was unveiled. The eight-time championship-winning team might not have to face the competition from its German compatriot for another four years, but Twitter is ready for this war of words.

Mercedes’ social media account has always had a sense of humor. Audi jumping right in with the banter makes us think it might be a German thing.
