Divided by nations but untied by sport. The entire world, for the past month or so, has been witnessing the biggest sporting event of the year, the FIFA World Cup. Most, if not all, Formula 1 drivers are also engrossed in the World Cup. Take Max Verstappen, for example, who accurately predicted the results of a match.

The match in question was France Vs England, the last of the four quarterfinal ties. Most English fans wouldn’t have agreed with Verstappen’s prediction. However, it was accurate as England lost the game with a scoreline of 2-1 in France’s favor. A hugely frustrating prospect for all English fans. Lewis Hamilton even shared his heartbreak on his Instagram story with a message saying, “Proud 💔”

“France! I think France. Mbappe up front is too good. You can’t keep him in control for 90 minutes so,” predicted the Dutchman.

However, during his prediction, Verstappen did not completely discount the England national team. He even sang the team’s and the manager’s praises.

He said, “But I think it will be a good game because England has a very strong team as well. And, of course, I would like to see them do well because they deserve to go far. Also, their manager, I think he’s a very cool guy, and he has done very well.”

The Red Bull man accurately predicted the outcome of the match and maybe even the entire tournament. Especially after Argentina knocked the Dutch national team out of the tournament. A match, Verstappen watched in tricky conditions.

The Dutchman was at a crossroads during the FIA Gala, held on the 9th of December. Even though Verstappen was picking up the most important trophy of the 2022 season at the Gala, the Dutchman’s priorities were somewhere else.

To be specific, it was with the Argentina Vs Netherlands FIFA World Cup quarterfinal match. The match kicked off at the same time as the Gala. Because of this overlap, Verstappen had to watch the match on his mobile phone. Kelly Piquet shared this scenario on her Instagram story, where Verstappen was using Piquet’s bag to support his phone.
