If you think one can only use an F1 car only for racing, you’re wrong. Why? Because apparently, an F1 car can also make deliveries. However, this once-in-a-lifetime scenario can only happen for special deliveries. For example, the Ballon d’Or trophy.

That is exactly what the organizers did to get the 2022 Ballon d’Or trophy to the Théâtre du Châtelet. The responsibility to deliver the most prestigious trophy in European football fell on the hands of Alpine men for the second year in a row. In 2021, the award organizers and the French F1 team made a spectacle of the trophy’s arrival.

For the 2022 ceremony, the prestigious trophy made its way to the venue in style on the top of an old F1 car driven by Esteban Ocon. However, before arriving on the red carpet, Ocon took some time out. Ocon filled the streets of Paris with the powerful engine sound and some burnout smoke before he got on the red carpet in his Alpine suit.

For the unaware, Ballon d’Or is one of the most prestigious individual awards in European football. They award the trophy to a footballer based on their individual performance in a season.

Real Madrid’s Frenchman, Karim Benzema, took the men’s trophy home. Whereas for women’s football, the Spaniard Alexia Putellas of Barcelona won the award for the second year in a row.
