Formula 1 is arguably a sport that has a few ‘big egos’. That’s probably what you need to make the cut in such a highly competitive sport. That being said, oftentimes the team must come before the driver themselves because without that there’s only anarchy.

One of the most recent and apparent examples of this is the case of Max Verstappen. His Brazilian GP antics of not following team orders have threatened to cause rifts inside Milton Keynes-based outfit. And this may have a long-lasting impact on the Championship viability of Red Bull. Doesn’t this remind us of someone, though?

Cristiano Ronaldo recently gave a sensational interview with Piers Morgan, where he branded the team for “betraying” him. He’s been vilified for thinking of himself as ‘bigger’ than the team. Now, it seems Verstappen might be following in the same footsteps.

“I have my reasons for that. I think it was good that we finally just sat together and talked about it and just move forward from here,” said Verstappen, in his post-race interview after not giving the place back to his teammate Sergio Perez, although the team asked him to.

Even though Verstappen was adamant about not extending a helping hand to Checo last weekend, he has changed his tune since.

Sergio Perez needed Verstappen in Brazil. However, he was arguably failed by his teammate. That being said, after the whole fiasco, he came out to show his willingness to support the Mexican at Abu Dhabi.

Talking about this, he said, “If we go to Abu Dhabi and he needs support, it is not the end of the world. It is all about who finishes ahead anyway. If he needs help, I am there. But it is good that we first talked about it now and cleared everything that was there and why I didn’t do it.”
