Hollywood Star and Canada’s favorite, Ryan Reynolds has helped bring more eyeballs to F1. The Wrexham AFC owner had a great time turning around the soccer team. After that success, he expanded his sports portfolio by investing in Alpine. As Reynolds heads out to turn around the team, a former F1 World Champion and Lewis Hamilton‘s ex-teammate has come ahead to give valuable advice.

Reynolds Rob McElhenney, along with Otro Capital and Red Bird Capital Partner expanded their portfolio by investing $218 million and acquiring 24% in Alpine. Now, that Alpine has more money pumped in, they can develop their car better. Upgrades are the first thing that comes to mind with the influx of more money. But, Nico Rosberg‘s past words on Mercedes’ mistake have come in handy for Reynolds to navigate his way better.

In the VF1 Show with VF and Vincenzo, on Spotify, VF spoke about how Alpine can better make use of the funds to poach better engineers and drivers from other teams. And they spoke about how it could be a “game-changer” for them. Their comments line up with what Rosberg said about Mercedes’ mistakes a month ago.

Rosberg said, as quoted by crash.net, “The teams are going for it to try and get the talent from Red Bull which is the normal way in F1. That’s what always happens. Mercedes – strange that they haven’t been a little bit more active there [in poaching from rivals]. The knowledge that you also get around a set of regulations when you take someone from the best team is just so valuable. Perhaps that’s a little surprising.”

After taking over Wrexham AFC, the investor duo was looking to buy NHL team Ottawa Senators. However, since their demand for a 30-day negotiation window was turned down, they backed out of the deal. But, they were not dejected. They moved onto F1 and bought a stake in Alpine. Commenting on the same, ESPN’s Katie George said the duo should run for President and Vice-President.

She said, “It feels like at this point Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney need to be on a 2024 ticket here in the United States to run for President and Vice President because they’re just kind of taking over everything it seems”.
