Despite 20 long-drawn years of blood, sweat, and tears, Arsenal’s Premier League title drought continues. For the second season in a row, Manchester City has crushed the Gunners. 7-time F1 Champion, Lewis Hamilton, who has been a Gooner since childhood, surprisingly because of his sister’s “punching”, has sent a heartfelt message to back the defeated stars.

Hamilton was on top of the world when Arsenal topped the Premier League table in April, with 80 points in 35 matches. “I’m so happy. I’ve been waiting for this my whole life,” the Mercedes driver told GQ. The beginnings of the 39-year-old supporting them began when he was 5 years old. Being the “only kid of color” in his childhood neighborhood, he conformed to the other kids’ team choices to fit in. But his sister Sam would ‘punch him several times in the arm‘ to force him into supporting Arsenal.

Thus, the love story began. Fast forward to 2024, the Mikel Arteta-led team showed brilliant consistency. But as Manchester City’s star midfielder Rodri claims, the Gunners’ subpar mentality cost them. Though Arsenal won their final game against Everton, City’s 3-1 thumping of West Ham snatched the title.

Nonetheless, Arsenal dedicated a special Instagram post to their fans, captioned: “You pushed us all the way, Gooners. A journey to remember. This is just the beginning.” Reposting the heartwarming photo on his Instagram story, Hamilton penned a promising message after the heartbreak. Proud of this team, it’s ours next season “, wrote the 7-time champion.

On many occasions, Hamilton has displayed his love for Arsenal. Though the team is yet to pay him and their fans back with a title, the beautiful game of soccer moves on, as did the Briton, from nearly owning Chelsea.

F1’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix concluded yesterday. During the same race weekend in Imola in 2022, British businessman Sir Martin Broughton had bid to acquire Chelsea. Lewis Hamilton too confirmed his involvement in the consortium along with his close friend, Tennis star Serena Williams.

“Ultimately, I’m a sporting fan,” Hamilton said at the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP, while adding, “It’s the biggest sport in the world and Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world and one of the most successful. When I heard about this opportunity I was like, ‘Wow’, this is one of the greatest opportunities to be a part of something.”

The soon-to-be Ferrari driver had then committed 10 million GBP (around $13 million) from his pocket. Fortuitously, this bid brought Williams and Hamilton closer than before, and they were “constantly in touch” about it. Unfortunately, Broughton & Co. couldn’t win the bid. Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter, and Hansjörg Wyss secured the acquisition of the West London club.

Maybe it was meant to be. Chelsea might never have arose the deep feeling that he has for Arsenal. In one super lucky possibility in 2025, Hamilton could win the F1 World Championship with Ferrari and Arsenal, the Premier League. Till then, the grind stays on.
