Lando Norris is no stranger to the intricacies of the modern digital landscape. Thanks to an inurgence in the popularity of live streaming during the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw popular F1 drivers and soccer stars turn to Twitch to connect with their fans and stream some fun content. F1 superstars like Norris, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Alexander Albon have been the driving forces behind these streams for quite some time, and they’ve resulted in hilarious moments like Norris shaving his head, Leclerc locking his now-ex-girlfriend outside his apartment. Or even Verstappen’s cute encounters with his girlfriend’s daughter, Penelope. This time, though, the hilariousness was mixed with a feeling of utter shock, all thanks to Lando Norris.
During his latest stream, the McLaren driver made a massive announcement about his streaming career and, well, his fans were definitely heartbroken. But mere minutes before sending shockwaves through his devoted fanbase (at least on Twitch) with that announcement, he decided to troll Brazilian soccer player Neymar Jr, who was also streaming on Twitch at that time.
For fans who couldn’t catch the livestream, this hilarious incident came to their attention after one fan posted a snippet on X. In the clip, Norris is seen browsing Twitch when, out of the corner of his eye, he catches the soccer superstar also streaming at the same time. That was not everything that Lando saw, though, as he also quickly noticed that Neymar had significantly fewer viewers than he did.

Norris, being Norris, took this chance to take a humorous dig at the Brazillian soccer superstar. He coyly commented, “Neymar? Chat, we’ve got more viewers than Neymar.” Fans in his chatroom also joined in on the fun, asking the F1 driver who Neymar is. Norris, yet again, didn’t miss a single beat and replied, “Neymar who? Yeah exactly. He’s not a true streamer.” But he quickly amended, “Actually, he streams a lot.”

On a platform like Twitch, the consistency with which one stream can often lead to an increase in viewership. The fact that Neymar seemingly streams more than Lando Norris but still clocks fewer viewers is amazing for the British F1 driver. However, just minutes after this hilarious banter, he quickly gave his fans the shock of their lifetimes after revealing major news about his career.
Lando Norris’ major streaming decision
Lando Norris’ latest stream had it all, for after a long, grueling season, he enjoyed a chill Fortnite session with his friends on stream. However, near the end of the stream, the McLaren driver revealed the news of his plans to stop streaming. He announced on his latest stream that it would be his last one… for a while. But the way he said it had everyone shell-shocked. Max Fewtrell, his best friend, said, “Lando’s chat it’s a final goodbye. It’s his last ever time on his PC.”

Following that, Norris confirmed he’d just be gone for a while, making a sad face to make his announcement believably, at least for those who weren’t following along. He even urged his followers to upload the clip on social media, announcing the end of his streaming career. Although that had his fans panicking, everyone quickly realized that it was just a joke and that Norris would soon be back in the world of streaming.
