“I’m sure it would’ve been extremely interesting,” said Martin Brundle in an extremely sarcastic manner after Cara Delevingne refused to talk to the F1 pundit on the grid at the Silverstone Grand Prix. Brundle, apart from his whole load of knowledge about Formula 1, is well known for his celebrity antics during the Grid Walk. At the 2024 Monaco GP, Brundle repeated the antics with PSG star Kylian Mbappe. But what did he say this time around?

The Crown Jewel of F1, the Monaco GP, is amid one of the most exclusive events on the calendar, with multiple celebrities from all across the globe making an appearance on the grid. Even Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were expected to attend the event but are nowhere to be seen. In all honesty, they are probably watching the event from one of the yachts in the bay.

Kylian Mbappe is heavily rumored to be making a move to Real Madrid before the start of the upcoming football season. However, his rise to stardom started at AS Monaco, a club that still feels like home to the French star. Not only that, the PSG star also owns a house in Tax Haven Monaco, like many athletes do. So it isn’t a surprise that Mbappe attended the Monaco GP.

What was a surprise was the conversation between Martin Brundle and Kylian Mbappe’s security guard on the Monaco GP grid. As Brundle did the grid walk, he spotted Mbappe towards the back of the grid. As he approached the French star, the bodyguard tried to stop Brundle, who then responded by saying, “It’s alright, mate, I’m in charge around here,” and then continued to try and get a word from Mbappe.

Martin Brundle ended up having somewhat of a conversation with Kylian Mbappe, but the French star stayed humble and replied calmly like nothing happened between Brundle and his security.

Dribbling and shooting on one side, the one thing Kylian Mbappe is known for is his blistering pace. But is Mbappe faster than an F1 car? That is what Martin Brundle was trying to imply as he got Kylian Mbappe to have a word with him. After the security guard fiasco, the F1 pundit made it to Mbappe and asked if he was up for a word on Sky Sports, to which Mbappe replied that he was there just for the race.

Martin Brundle then decided to flatter Mbappe by advising that he was fast enough to beat the cars going into Turn 1. Kylian Mbappe finally spoke to him and replied, “No, no, I’m not faster than the cars! I just want to be here like a fan and enjoy the moment.” A very humble and calm reply by the PSG star. However, since he was there to watch the race, he probably had to wait an extra 35 minutes after the Lap 1 chaos.
