Most F1 drivers pick up other sports to distract them from racing, however, not Max Verstappen. The Dutchman immerses himself even more with sim racing during his off time. However, in the real world, Verstappen is a massive soccer fan and even draws comparisons with the GOATs. National team aside, on a club level, the Red Bull man supports the Red Devils, Manchester United of the English Premier League. Keeping up with his favorite club, the Dutchman has received heartbreaking news as United is set to replace a club legend. This added on top of United’s arch-rival’s current form is a major blow for the United supporter.

The record-breaking Spanish goalkeeper revealed his decision to part ways with the United on social media. After a 12-year-long partnership, it is a big blow for the club as they lose their 4-time player of the year. However, United is already close to signing David de Gea’s replacement in Andre Onana. United is expected to pay Inter Milan $58 million to secure Onana’s services. Despite the replacement, Verstappen’s recent comments quoted by TalkSport showcase how the team will still be struggling.

“Oh no! Yes, well I’m a United [supporter],” admitted Verstappen. But for me, I enjoy when I see a great match when I see great football, and I think the Premier League is the best league out there – a lot of great players.” He then revealed the major blow to his club at the hands of their arch-rivals. “I think Man City is winning a little too much,” he added.

The Dutchman did reveal he’s a fan of the Red Devils. However, he is not extremely invested like most United fans would be. Verstappen enjoys the sport and a good fight equally, no matter the side. In fact, he even revealed he has more friends in the Liverpool camp, United’s oldest rivals. To make things worse, he compared Red Bull to united noisy neighbors, Manchester City.

“Well, it’s not like I’m a die-hard United fan, I talk to Virgil as well and [other] Liverpool players,” he revealed. After pointing out City’s winning streak he also added, “But I guess I could say the same about us [Red Bull]!” The Dutchman will not get upset during the Manchester Derby if the city is painted blue, to say the least.
