George Russell is among the few drivers on the grid whose interests lie in the world of global soccer. The Brit proved that with his appearance at the UEFA Champions League Final in Istanbul. Russell saw Manchester City lift their first Champions League trophy and complete a historic and first-ever treble in the club’s career. Russell even levied his praise on the man responsible for guiding the club to the momentous achievement, Pep Guardiola. While enjoying his time in the stadium, George dwelled a little deeper on the topic as well. However, it turned out to be a rabbit hole as the Mercedes man revealed an embarrassing tale from his past.

As seen on Football news source 433’s Instagram page, Russell took time out to talk to one of their journalists. In the conversation, Russell was creating his own footballing world. However, toward the end, when asked how many he’d score in a season, Russell made an embarrassing admission.

Russell hilariously admitted, “Own goals? When I was a kid, four years old. I used to play PES 2003 or something. I didn’t understand how football works. It was the year where they had those big blow-up celebration thingies and I was scoring like 10 goals a game. But only I realized I was actually scoring own goals. So that’s 10 goals a game when I was [a] kid. So what’s that a season? 380? That is a lot.”
