Although his consortium lost the bid, Lewis feels he can increase his sports ownership with another famous Premier Club.

According to Mirror Sport, Hamilton is looking to join billionaire Jim Ratcliffe to bid for taking over Manchester United. Ratcliffe, worth $15.5 billion, was also in another consortium for the Chelsea bid and lost out to LA Dodgers and Lakers owner Todd Boehly’s group.

Hamilton had expressed his interest to join forces with Ratcliffe who also co-owns INEOS, the principal sponsor for Mercedes F1. He stated, “I haven’t had a call from [Ratcliffe] asking if I want to be involved in [a United takeover bid] just yet, but I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in Black ownership — there is a lack of it in sports — and Black equity.”

The 7-time champion has been a gunner in investments, especially in sports teams. Besides, his financial commitment has also been immense. Lewis became an owner of the NFL team Denver Broncos in 2022. Since then, he has invested money to improve the infrastructure of the Broncos stadium facility too.

So, Lewis would want to secure the elusive Manchester United despite being an Arsenal fan. But, Front Office Sports reported that the asking price may be slightly higher at $7.2 billion. While Forbes had valued the club at $4.6 billion.

Lewis announced his Extreme E team venture in 2020. Since then, Hamilton’s team X-44 has been quite successful last year, beating his old arch-rival Nico Rosberg’s outfit Rosberg X Racing (RXR). In a tense finale, the X44 team triumphed over defending champions RXR to clinch the Extreme E title for 2022.

Apart from this, Lewis has also invested in a golf venture by the legend Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Woods and McIlroy’s company TMRW sports is aiming to integrate sports, media, and entertainment to promote the growth of sports worldwide.

As per Planet F1, their first attempt would be a golf league – TGL, starting in 2024. Hamilton is part of this venture with 5 more F1 drivers, including Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Alex Albon, and former driver Mark Webber.
