For his most recent summer break activity, George Russell decided to sit down with Carmen Mundt as they watched the FIFA Women?s World Cup final between England and Spain. Russell posted a story on his Instagram as he made a video from his front camera showing the match being broadcasted on the television with the caption ?Come on England ??????? @lionesses??
Being a Brit himself, Russell supported England?s Women’s football team to bring the trophy home. However, Real Madrid star and International Spain footballer Olga Carmona scored a banger in the 29th minute to give Spain the lead. It was the moment when the referee blew the final whistle when Carmona shattered Russell?s hopes as the score remained 1-0 for the rest of the match. It was the Real Madrid star?s goal that made all the difference.?

Carmen Mundt, however, posted a story with the match on screen and caption ?Vamos ??!!!? advising that she was supporting Spain. Regardless of this heartbreak, 2023 has been a hard year for George Russell.?

Russell has been struggling this season when compared to his teammate Lewis Hamilton who is flying and has bounced back from a subpar 2022 season. It just seems like Russell isn?t comfortable with the car with multiple underwhelming performances in qualifying and races. Nonetheless, Russell suggests that the slump has nothing to do with the car but just with his confidence.
According to Motorsport.com, George Russell said, ?Just sometimes things are just going your way and you’ve got that confidence. Sometimes you just lose a bit of confidence, and it has a bit of a knock-on effect.?
