Lewis Hamilton may have gone a full season without a race win, but his popularity hasn’t taken a hit. The Briton still commands respect among fans and pundits alike and continues to be a hit among celebrities as he was before. A former F1 team owner turned expert recently talked about the aura that he carries and compared it to that of David Beckham when the soccer heartthrob was on top of his abilities playing for teams like Real Madrid.

Just like Lewis, David was quite the style icon not just on the field but off it as well. His looks and his fashion sense, apart from his abilities at right-wing are perhaps what caught the attention of Victoria, one of the most loved Spice Girls. The former LA Galaxy player may have retired in 2013 but he still continues to catch fans’ and paparazzi’s attention at different events.

During the peak of his abilities, Beckham gained immense popularity around the globe. The Briton was among the most recognizable faces in the world, along with the likes of many celebs. Former F1 team Jordan’s owner and Eddie Jordan feels Lewis has reached that level as well.

In a recent interview with TalkSport, Eddie said, “His likeness lends towards recognition and what he’s done is a little bit like Beckham, he’s moved away from Britain, into Europe Asia and now he’s synonymous with the states, he’s global.”

“He’s absolutely global and can do anything he wants.”

While Jordan felt Hamilton’s stardom has reached new heights, he also believed it was time for him to take steps toward the holy grail. The 8th world championship.

Is it time for Hamilton to switch teams?

The 7-time champion is 38 and is pretty much hanging on for that coveted 8th world championship title. However, Mercedes’ ongoing slump suggests it might not end anytime soon. That leaves the Briton with two options- either trust his current team to overcome their woes or try his luck with a different team. As per Jordan, that team is Ferrari.

Further in the interview, Eddie said, “I think he would like to win his eighth title but I have a passion in that I think he should go to Ferrari but that’s just me talking nonsense.”

“I think if there’s an opportunity to go somewhere he should go to Ferrari because every great champion should at least have a spell at Ferrari because it just oozes with style and grandeur.”
