“A note from me and a gentle reminder to all…The online world can be a wonderful place for various reasons, but a very scary one when wrong information and lies are thrown around,” began Kelly Piquet as she uploaded a multiple-slide message on Instagram addressing the hate that she has been subjected to ever since she started dating Max Verstappen. While a few understood her plight, others just doubled down on the hate after they found something fishy. Take a look at what has happened.

While many have only come to know Kelly Piquet as the girlfriend of reigning triple-world champion Max Verstappen, the Brazilian model was not an unknown person in the F1 world. Before Piquet began dating Verstappen, she used to date another from the Red Bull clan. Apart from being the daughter of a three-time world champion and sister to racing drivers, she has a child with an ex-F1 driver, Daniil Kvyat. For context, Daniil was replaced by Max Verstappen and later she began dating him. This perhaps is the root cause of all the hatred.

Addressing the hatred, she sent out a long message consisting of multiple slides. She wrote, “I am unsure of the appropriate approach to address hate stemming from falsehoods. I have considered composing a response and letting it stand. For over 3 years I’ve been navigating a very strange and upsetting wave of accusations, rumors, fabricated situations, fake testimonials, photoshopped screenshots… you name it. All the while staying silent and not playing into these ridiculous claims. Accusations made in the past months especially have taken on another level of defamation. Those who know me know that I would never put myself in such positions, say certain things, or act in such a way. I am far from perfect, but I do take pride in my values, morals, and manners. Let that be clear.”

“As a human being, the comments and hate affect me and the people around me deeply. I hope this serves as a reminder for people to verify online content before making threats. I hope those of you who have contributed to this take a moment to reflect on the real-life consequences of spreading lies and engaging in hate. Remember, as James Clear says, ‘Every action we take is a vote for who we want to be’. Let’s choose the better humans for ourselves and others,” it added.

However, the emotional appeal and Max Verstappen’s comment on the post resulted in a new wave of trolling.

“Why couldn’t she coordinate better?” Kelly Piquet gets brutally trolled for Max Verstappen’s comment

Replying to Kelly’s post, Max wrote, “This has to stop. These false accusations by certain individuals on Instagram and TikTok are insane and ridiculous at the same time. Hate has no place in this world. We know what’s true within our family and we are very happy together. I love you.” This message was overanalyzed by enthusiastic X users and nitpicked for every detail. And their discovery made them rip her to shreds.

One user wrote that the comment looked fake and their distant knowledge of Max’s habits points to the fact that it wasn’t his doing.

The other one made a sure-shot claim that Kelly herself commented on the picture.

Another one made a similar assumption stating how they can’t see Max writing it.

However, the biggest revelation was that Verstappen was busy gaming when that comment was posted

But the dominant tone remained that the 3x champ would not write a comment like that.
