16 years, four world championships, 53 race wins, and 122 podiums later, Sebastian Vettel hung up his helmet. The German retired from the sport in 2022 and said his goodbyes. However, in a twist of fate, Aston Martin wants him back, although not permanently. There is a state of panic in the Aston Martin garage before racing even begins because of Lance Stroll’s injury. However, this SOS signal to the German is being deemed disrespectful by some fans.

Aston Martin’s driver, Lance Stroll met with an accident while riding his bicycle in Spain. The injuries sustained by the Canadian have already kept him out of the pre-season testing. To make things worse, the team predicts Stroll will miss the season opener and even potentially the race in Saudi Arabia as well.
This unfortunate scenario made Aston Martin evaluate their alternatives. The list of alternatives put Vettel on top and team principal Mike Krack even confirmed the rumors to Autosport. “I have had a couple of phone calls with Sebastian,” revealed Krack.
Most fans would love to see Vettel race again in a much improved Aston Martin car as per the pre-season testing results. However, there is a select group who sees this approach by Aston Martin as disrespectful for two reasons.
Reason one is the blatant disregard for Vettel’s wish to retire. The second and less obvious one is the incivility towards Felipe Drugovich.
Fans showcase their irrigation toward Aston Martin’s approach to Sebastian Vettel and disregard for Felipe Drugovich
Drugovich is the 2022 Formula 2 champion and is a reserve and test driver for Aston Martin and McLaren. The Brazilian filled Stroll’s seat for the pre-season testing. However, Aston Martin’s call to Vettel might put his chances to race in Bahrain at risk if Stroll doesn’t recover.
Aston Martin’s approach will steal Drugovich’s golden opportunity to prove himself on the biggest stage in the premier class. This disregard toward Drugovich is disappointing to some fans.
I love Seb but this is so disrespectful to Felipe. You have a F2 champion ready to go, move on

i’d love to see seb back in that Aston, but i think Drugovich would be the better choice as he’s the one who’s done the most simulator work and track time in that car other than Nando. i would not complain at all if seb was put back in the car though

The fans would love to see Vettel back. However, they also argue that the German made a tough decision to retire and the team should respect that and the F2 champion.
Leave the guy alone. Let him enjoy his retirement.

I don't think it should be allowed, you have a reserve driver for a reason, they need their opportunities when then come.

This is so disrespectful to Drugovich

Why do you keep reserve drivers if when you need them, you go for a retired driver? Bring Seb for a race or two is foolish

Why did they contact Vettel? Let that man rest for a while. He really deserved it. Besides, AM already has reserved drivers especially for situations like this.

Reserve drivers only get a handful of opportunities to prove their worth. The fans do no appreciate Aston Martin potentially stealing Drugovich’s golden ticket. Give the kid a chance!
