The ‘sleeping giants’ Williams is one of the greatest teams to enter the sport of Formula 1. And they attributed the historic feat which saw 114 wins and nine constructor championships to an independent team of F1. While the team is now miserably struggling, as it finished last in 2022. But a throwback to an F1 sneakerhead’s collector item has the new and veteran fans drooling over the creation, alike.

Tom McCluskey, who himself is a sneakerhead and Formula 1 enthusiast, posted a throwback on his official Twitter account he called a monstrosity. He posted a series of four pictures of Formula racing-inspired shoes that were manufactured by FILA decades ago. While many couldn’t even identify the old McLaren colors and wanted the Papaya colors for the Woking team-inspired shoes, the almost unanimous and echoing among the people was in favor of the iconic British team.

When the Williams family bowed out of the team at Monza a few years ago, Claire Williams described her father’s legacy as an extraordinary one. And the iconic colors and make of the sneakers probably struck a chord with the fans.

Amongst the four pairs of shoes that were posted, The Renault Team Shoe of WilliamsxCannon edition from Reebok, which was manufactured in the 1980s, was what won the onlookers’ hearts. Have a look at some curated comments from F1 Twitter listed below:

The love for the Williams sneaker kept pouring in. While the original post was aimed at to have a laugh at the Fila collection, the comment section heavily tilted towards the traditional British outfit leaving behind the other three of Honda Racing, McLaren and even Michael Schumacher.
