Formula 1 ace Lewis Hamilton was conferred with a knighthood at an investiture at Windsor Castle today. The Mercedes luminary was knighted for his accomplishments in motorsports. He became the 4th F1 driver to receive this honor after Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss, and Sir Jack Brabham.
The seven-time world champion was crowned with the elite British honor just days after the final race of the 2021 f1 season. Notably, Lewis Hamilton holds the record for most Grand Prix wins (with 103) and joint most Championship wins (7).

Arise, Sir Lewis Hamilton
The British driver recently missed out on his record 8th world title following a last-lap debacle in Abu Dhabi. However, he was honored this morning for his services to the motorsports community. He was accompanied by his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, who has been a pivotal part of his journey as a racing driver. Naturally, the proud mother was present during the monumental ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Hamilton’s passion for racing developed at a very tender age. However, things never came easy for the F1 legend. But his father has been alongside him through thick and thin and he ultimately made it big.
After winning the GP2 championship in 2006, he was up for his chance at the highest level with the McLaren team the following year. He won the 2007 Canadian GP announcing his arrival at the big stage. Since then, he has made 288 Grand Prix starts winning 103 of them (the next highest is Michael Schumacher with 91 wins) and 7 world championship wins, the latest being the 2020 F1 WDC.
However, this day would certainly be a memorable one for the F1 legend. The title previously held by just 3 other F1 drivers was conferred to him at the royal ceremony this morning.
