Remember how the Tifosi erupted after Carlos Sainz qualified on pole for the Italian GP? However, the joy was short-lived as the Red Bulls came out on top on Sunday. Nonetheless, the Spaniard along with teammate Charles Leclerc again have a chance this Sunday to redeem themselves. However, Lewis Hamilton stands in their way with a vengeful plan weeks after he rejected Ferrari’s $49 million offer. What is Hamilton planning?

Lewis Hamilton announced his contract extension with Mercedes at the Italian GP. It did seem a little evil as the Brit, after being approached by Ferrari multiple times for a transfer, refused all the deals including the $49 million contract, and announced his loyalty to Mercedes at Ferrari’s home race. However, looks like the 7X champ isn’t done as he threatens the Scuderia for the Singapore GP race day.

Lewis Hamilton wishes for his teammate Russell to put the Ferrari under pressure as he starts P2 sandwiched between the Ferrari. Hamilton on the other hand plans on getting the Maximum out of the race as he starts P5. The Briton can even be in the fight for the win as the safety car always shuffles things around in Singapore.

Speaking with Sky Sports during the post-qualifying interviews, Lewis Hamilton said, “But there is a lot we can fight for. I hope that George gets a good start and can put Ferrari under pressure. It would be great if he wins. For my part, I will get the maximum out of it to get ahead and see how the race develops”

Ferrari lost the Italian GP because of tire degradation. On raw, one-lap pace, the Scuderia were a match for the Red Bulls. The same might be the case here in Singapore. George Russell, who starts P2 behind Sainz explains he plans on putting the Ferrari under pressure with the tire strategy and forcing them into error just like Verstappen forces Sainz into locking up at Monza.

During the post-race interviews, after the Singapore GP qualifying session, George Russell said, “I think it’s going to be very close between a one and a two stop. With our mediums, we can put Ferrari in a difficult position and try to force them into an error and get the upper hand, so that’s what we’re looking for.”
