F1 has been against social evils and has recently started acting actively against them. The We Race as One initiative is aimed at fighting COVID-19 and global inequality. F1 Academy was introduced to promote women across different Motorsport classes. For a similar cause, F1 is speculated to reject a new possible entrant linked to Nikita Mazepin’s father who’s worth $2.8 Billion. Who is this new entrant? What’s in it for Nikita Mazepin?

F1 removed the Sochi GP from its calendar ever since the war waged between Russia and Ukraine. For similar reasons, Russian driver Nikita Mazepin’s contract was also terminated by Haas. In the latest episode of Unlapped podcast, Hitech was revealed as one of the two teams that are possibly going to join the F1 Grid. However, the hosts pointed out Hitech’s connection to Dmitry Mazepin, a Russian Businessman as they said “Hitech is also interesting. That’s the team that used to be very closely run by Dmitry Mazepin, who’s Nikita Mazepin’s dad. He’s actually given up the ownership or at least publicly of that team. But is still believed to have a lot of say from him. I think F1 is very very cautious about the links to Russia at this point.”

But if Hitech makes it to F1 and Dmitry Mazepin is still involved, will Nikita Mazepin make a comeback to F1?

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a highly debatable topic. However, most of the economies around the world believe that what Russia did is wrong and hence boycotted the nation altogether. F1 followed a similar path by boycotting Russia in every possible way. Haas ended the sponsorship with Uralkali, a firm owned by Dmitry Mazepin. Stefano Domenicali made a bold statement about the Russian GP not returning to F1.
