The much-hyped Miami F1 GP is finally over and what a race weekend it was! The Sunshine state saw Miami host its first-ever Grand Prix race and the organizers believe that things couldn’t have been better. However, the event picked up a lot of controversies in its way.

The organizers had to go through a lot of ups and downs to make the event happen. To start with, the locals in Miami moved to court against the race to proceed. Moreover, the artificial Marina built temporarily around the circuit was denounced by the fans online.

The newly made circuit received heavy criticism from the drivers as well. As the driver took on the track for practice sessions and qualifications, they expressed dissatisfaction with the surface. Alpine driver Fernando Alonso stated that the track doesn’t meet F1 standards and there’s a lot to be done for next year.

Defending champion Max Verstappen called the circuit a joke while his teammate Sergio Perez agreed with the Dutchman. The McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo further stated that the track is risky outside the racing line as drivers are expected to struggle for grip. All in all, it is believed that the F1 drivers didn’t have the best experience driving at the Miami F1 GP.
F1 fans criticize the first United States Grand Prix of 2022
The fans took to social media to criticize the event. From the location of the track to the artificial Marina, the circuit in Miami has been critiqued heavily. It is believed that the fans argued if the Miami race organizers tried to copy the Monaco Grand Prix settings with yacht and water body.
Given below are some of the reactions by fans:
Love the track!! BUT: Change the tarmac it was coming apart. Make the run-off areas wider and easier to drive off. GET RID OF THE MICKEY MOUSE CHICANE it is way too tight. RUN the scheduled race in October with Austin and Mexico and move south to Brasil…weather is less brutal.

It was not a good one guys. The directing was bad. We couldn't see some of the moves made coz the camera cut to the crowd or something random like the sky??? Also, what's with the police?and the helmets??

The track is bad for racing and bad for TV. Bad camera positioning and bad TV direction. The whole podium show wit the police escort and helmets was incredibly stupid. I hope this event won't stick around.

The podium bit was a sh*t show. Give the trophy to the winner last so they can have their victory moment and raise it up to a big applause and then straight to Champaign. Max looked awkward waiting around for the trophies to be handed out to everyone else. Watch other races maybe

Mmm mixed emotions. Track needs tweaking as George Russel said remove that awkward slow chicane, resurface it, then might have a race next year

However, not everyone has been critiqued for the event. Some believe that the race in Florida is a stepping stone to the sport’s growth in the United States. Given below are some of the reactions in favor of the GP:
Congrats @f1miami, hell of a show. I’ve been going to @COTA since day one and standing up a new race is a monumental effort. Can’t wait to see the track in person next year.

I only wish we had one more week for the #MiamiGP , it was so much fun watching with people who were totally new to F1, and they were asking me about the pit stops, the drs zone, the safety car, everything! Now to go in person next year !!!

Great spectacle. Not a great track. Relax everyone. First tome the race was in Miami and it’s not going anywhere for 9 years. They’ll learn from their mistakes and improve on it next year.
