Daniel Ricciardo has raced his last for McLaren. The recently concluded Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw the Australian get behind the wheel of MCL36 for one last time for the Papaya team. As Ricciardo’s stint with the Woking-based team got over, fans react emotionally over the new Oscar Piastri video by McLaren.



A recent video released by the McLaren F1 team’s official Twitter handle showed their new recruit Piastri roaming around the garage with his race suit on. Everything was fine until the number 3 became visible in the background. What is special about the number is that it was used by Ricciardo in the team.

Moreover, number three has been the Australian’s favorite for quite some time now. Since Daniel is often referred to as DR3, the number left fans emotional as the video surfaced on the internet. On an important note, McLaren decided to replace Ricciardo with his compatriot Oscar Piastri for the 2023 F1 season.

As the video surfaced online, the fans were quick to share their reactions on social media. This showed that the British team is yet to replace the number for Piastri. ‘DR3 lives on’ has been the main theme as fans reacted to the video.

Daniel Ricciardo’s stint with McLaren came to an end after two bitter-sweet years. The former Red Bull driver joined the Woking-based team from Renault in 2021. Over the course of two years, Ricciardo picked up an important win in Monza last year.

Ricciardo finished his last race in P9 after an incredible battle with retirement-bound Sebastian Vettel for a better position in the WDC table. The Australian who struggled for points all season ended his McLaren stint with points.

The Honey Badger is reported to be the third/reserve driver for Red Bull Racing in 2023. Even though no concrete report has come out that confirms the signing, both parties are hopeful for a reunion. It’ll be interesting to see what Ricciardo chooses for next year.
