Many F1 pundits including Lewis Hamilton’s nemesis Nico Rosberg have complemented the 38-year-old’s ability to get back up after falling down. It is advised that the Brit always comes back with a bigger bang. Lewis Hamilton recently issued a bold claim to restore his upper hand at Mercedes after shrugging off the George Russell threat. What is his claim?
Many questions were raised about Lewis Hamilton’s F1 future last year. After facing the scathing defeat at the hands of Max Verstappen back in the 2021 season, many believed that Lewis Hamilton should retire from the sport. What further cemented this case was Lewis Hamilton’s 2022 performance when compared to George Russell, his new teammate.
George Russell finished 35 points ahead of his 7X World Champion teammate, Lewis Hamilton. In his first season for Mercedes, Russell was able to beat the legendary Hamilton. Just like there are two sides of a coin, we also have to look at things from Hamilton’s perspective. While Russell was on top of the world, the 38-year-old was down and low. The 7X champ explained how he struggled with the proposing W13 and had a stressful time.

However, all that is now behind Hamilton who’s flying this year. It feels like the Brit is full of motivation once again and back to challenge for that title. According to M4 Sport’s YouTube video, Lewis Hamilton said, “But of course, when you’re then struggling with the car and not feeling you’re able to extract your full potential it was not easy – it was stressful. This year I don’t find that at all and I feel back in the swing of things.”
With Lewis Hamilton back in form and his Mercedes contract extension in place, it looks promising for the 38-year-old who’s been dreaming of the 8th title for a very long time. But will staying at Mercedes reap the result that Hamilton is expecting?

Red Bull has been the class of the field this season with Max Verstappen running away with the title. Mercedes on the other hand hasn’t been able to provide a competitive car to Lewis Hamilton to challenge for the title. With Red Bull already working on the 2024 competitor, the Briton advises that he doesn’t care where he finishes in 2023. The focus is on the 2024 season as he wants to win his 8th title and be competitive.
According to soymotor.com, which quoted Channel 4, Lewis Hamilton said “It doesn’t matter to me what position I’m going to end up in 2023. The only thing I want is to help the team as much as possible in development so that we can start next year, in the first test and in the first race, with a car that has no rebound, that has the necessary downforce and efficiency. Thus, we will be able to fight with anyone, that is my dream. I am looking further afield.”
