Red Bull are the team to beat this season. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit has shown just how good they can be by developing a world-beater in the shape of the RB19. If 2022’s RB18 was a record-breaking machinery, then this year is about to be an absolute domination fest for the boys and girls back at base at MK7. But with having such a good car comes a few gremlins, too. For instance, Ferrari are now very eagerly studying the RB19 as reports would suggest.
It’s no secret that the Scuderia has been lagging behind this season. Naturally, with a driver of Charles Leclerc‘s caliber in their ranks, the team from Maranello will be fighting tooth and nail to ensure that the 25-year-old Monegasque has the best equipment possible to challenge the likes of Max Verstappen. But is the approach Frederic Vassuer is pinning upon the team the right one to catch up to the Bulls?

As things stand, Red Bull is the benchmark. They have the fastest car on the grid by an apparent country mile. However, the way that Ferrari wants to climb the championship rung has left a few paddock insiders worried. Ex-F1 driver, Johnny Herbert is one among them.
On a recent episode of the Lift the Lid podcast, he was quoted as saying, “I know Fred Vasseur at Ferrari has actually said that they have got to try and understand how that Red Bull works. Which means that’s what they are going to try and implement for next season. Because you’re not going to be able to change it for this one for sure. So, it’s a bit of a difficult thing to try and analyze. The whole aerodynamic, mechanical grip of the car.”
“To understand it [as a whole package] is a very hard thing.”
While at Ferrari, Leclerc seems to be struggling. But is this a wake-up call for the Monacan?

One thing that would arguably be on Leclerc’s mind right now would be to have the chance to win his maiden World Championship title with Ferrari. However, as things stand he may actually never be able to.
According to Christian Klien, Leclerc may never be able to win with Ferrari. He was quoted by Express UK as saying, “Ultimately, you need a car that performs over one and a half hours, and Charles didn’t have this for most of the races,” while talking about Leclerc’s disastrous 2022 season.
