What a chaotic Q1 we’ve had at the Canadian GP. Rain has been threatening since yesterday, but it all came together as Qualifying progressed for the race on Sunday. Tricky and changeable conditions always can end in heartbreak for a driver. However, Alpine Pierre Gasly would be ruing his missed chances at the expense of someone else’s transgressions. The Frenchman, according to the numbers, was on for a P6 finish. However, after being seemingly impeded by Carlos Sainz, got knocked out of Q1.

The replays showed Gasly being impeded at the final chicane by the Spaniard who himself was in a tangle with an AlphaTauri. The chaos that ensued led to Gasly being handed the shorter end of the stick. While the stewards have begun their investigation, Gasly is out for Sainz’s blood.

But a few fans also came to his defense. They chose to point the finger at Gasly and his past instead.

Another point of contention for the fans was the fact that the AlphaTauri also did not get called out. It was both Sainz and the AlphaTauri that played a hand in impeding Gasly. However, it was only the Spaniard who got singled out by the fans and the stewards.
