The French GP proved to be a good run for Lando Norris and the Papaya team. Finishing P7 in the heat of Le Castellet, the very necessary points haul was crucial to the team. However, in a weird new revelation, the toll might have been too heavy for the McLaren challenger.
Norris had somewhat of a shock as he got out of his car at the end of the race; only to find out that his car was falling apart. The Britton stepped out and spotted a big piece of carbon fiber just lying there. Norris looked bewildered as he picked up the bit inspected it and then dumped it in his car; the piece now his mechanic’s headache.

Norris must be thanking his lucky stars that his MCL36 did not fall apart during the race- potentially adding him to the large pool of DNFs during the event.
Lando Norris calls out Fernando Alonso’s bluff ahead of the French GP
The French GP had a ton of hype surrounding it with multiple teams debuting upgrades at the Circuit Paul Ricard. McLaren was one of them; the British team keen on their chances at the race. However, on Saturday, Alpine’s Fernando Alonso tried to pull a sneaky one on Lando Norris.
In a demonstration of the art of war, the Spaniard tried to get into Norris’ head and said, “Lando half-a-second in front is a little bit too much, unreachable for us, and that is a bit worrying. But let’s see what is their race pace, tyre management strategy, everything. Hopefully we can challenge him.”

However, Norris is no slouch and called out this bluff, instantly saying, “Oh, that’s Fernando. He’s playing mind games with you. He knew I was coming here [the media pen] after. I don’t believe a word he says.”
Norris was right, with the Britton finishing behind the Alpine of Alonso by a great margin that too. Alonso’s plan of underselling their performance might not have worked to the T, however, he will not fuss over it after finishing ahead of Norris.

In the meantime, Norris will be hoping for a similar if not better showing at Hungary in the next race. The Britton currently sits comfortably in P7 in the driver standings and will hope to end the season in that position, since his chances of catching Lewis Hamilton above him are very slim.
