Daniel Ricciardo’s move to AlphaTauri hasn’t made as much noise about Nyck De Vries sacking as much as it has made about Sergio Perez’s possible replacement next year. Various sources, pundits, and fans suggest that Daniel Ricciardo’s sudden move to Alpha Tauri is just a test for the Australian to accomplish the second driver seat at Red Bull. Nonetheless, to avoid Daniel Ricciardo from replacing him in 2024, Sergio Perez has been urged to win over the Red Bull mastermind’s loyalty. Who is the mastermind?

F1 Journalist Peter Windsor was asked as to who would come out on top if Checo and Honey Badger were teammates for Red Bull this season. Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez can be compared based on data. Windsor suggested that Daniel would’ve probably come out on top but also insisted on how important Adrian Newey’s role would’ve been in deciding who comes out on top.

According to Peter Windsor’s YouTube video, he said “I think over the season Daniel would have done it. It kind of depends on what Adrian was doing, I think. If Daniel was in Adrian’s ear or Adrian was listening, let’s put it that way, then I think Daniel. If Adrian said: ‘Daniel, don’t want to know about you, you left the team, go away’ and was working completely and utterly with Perez, then maybe Perez.”

Sergio Perez is having a super bad run of qualifying recently. The Mexican hasn’t made it to Q3 in the last 5 races. However, Red Bull TP Christian Horner suggests that Checo just needs to break the bad run, find the momentum and he’ll be good to go. It’s all just in the Mexican’s head.

According to Gazzetta.it, Christian Horner said “Some of his moves in the race at Silverstone, particularly the one on Carlos Sainz at Stowe, were quite stunning. If we look at his pace in the last stint, he gave his best there. Sure it’s frustrating for him to have to come back and fight all the time but he just needs to sort out his qualifying on Saturday and as a team, we will do our best to support him. I think that’s where the problem is, in sports, in all sports, 90% is in the head and I think he just needs a good run and he will find his momentum again” [translated via Google
