F1 is introducing new races galore in the future, which basically means that the existing tracks are under threat. The sport recently announced that it will race in Las Vegas in 2023, making it the third race in the US. But Red Bull driver Sergio Perez mentioned that many new tracks lack character.
The Mexican driver mentioned he was happy to be racing in new countries and new circuits. But he is quite worried that introducing so many new tracks will mean not going back to some of the most iconic F1 tracks.

Sergio Perez reveals the big issue with new F1 tracks
The sport has recently started racing in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Both tracks were criticized for their lack of character and for being too dangerous for the drivers. This season, the sport will go to Miami to race for the first time and that too lacks quality according to some.
So it is important for the sport to maintain a balance between going to new countries and retaining historic tracks.
Speaking on the same, said Perez said, “It’s a great opportunity for Formula 1, for the sport. I think we will all benefit from it. So it’s fantastic. But at the same time, it would be good to keep the history within the sport, and we need those historic tracks to always be with us.”

The new Las Vegas track too does not have many challenging corners that pop out or are unique in any sense. The long back straight on the Boulevard is probably the most iconic part of the track.
So it is important for Formula One to not target so many new tracks that do not promise any exciting races. Instead, it should focus on retaining some of the legendary tracks, like Spa Francorchamps and Monaco, onto the calendar.
