Red Bull are challenging reigning champions Mercedes for a constructor’s championship in 2021. It looks like they finally have a car and a driver pairing to take the fight and even win the title from the German team. The signing of Sergio Perez in late 2020 has played a huge role in Red Bull’s title challenge.

The Mexican driver has won a race with the Austrian team this season in Baku. But he has been inconsistent and has not been on the pace with teammate Max Verstappen throughout the first half of the season. This is the reason Red Bull have not decided on Perez’s future with the team.

Is Sergio Perez at Red Bull a done deal for 2022?

The Mexican driver seems to be the best option for the Milton-Keyes-based team. The team are hesitant to re-sign the AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon‘s entry to F1 looks highly unlikely anytime soon. So the chances of Perez staying with the team are quite high.

The Red Bull driver recently took to social media to post a couple of emojis that suggested that there might be an announcement in the offing by the team.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko came forward to hint that the team is happy with Perez’s performance in 2021. When asked if they are considering some other options, Marko replied,” There are a few options, but I don’t want to name names. The intention is to continue with the four drivers we have.”

“I think Sergio has delivered the role we’ve been hoping for. You saw that in Baku when he picked up a victory on the day he was able to put Lewis under pressure.

He’s been collecting those Constructors’ points and playing the team game, as we saw at the French Grand Prix. He’s a great team player and we are very happy with the job he’s doing.said Horner.
