These are happy times for Sergio Perez right now. He just became a father for the third time in his life, won the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time in his career and is in the championship fight this season. The Mexican driver also signed a new contract with Red Bull, which means he will race for them until the end of 2024.

This is the first long contract that he has signed with the Austrian team since joining them last season. The new contract also puts all the doubts everyone had over him to bed. But no one is happier than the Mexican driver after signing the new deal as it takes the pressure off him and he can focus on racing.

Perez is currently in the championship fight against his teammate Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc this season. By signing a new contract early, he can shift his focus on racing for wins and not get disturbed by his future in the sport. Perez, too, reiterated the same sentiment.

“Having my future decided allows me to stay 100 percent focused on the main goal of winning races and world titles. It’s amazing how hard work always pays; two years ago I was without a seat in F1 and today I’m in the best team.

I can only say that I am happy and very grateful for the opportunity. Today I think I am in the best moment of my career and driving for a team that always seeks perfection, which is the perfect match for me and for any driver,” said Perez.

He heads into the next race full of confidence as it is one of his stronger tracks in F1. Sergio loves to race at the Baku International Circuit and even won the race last season.

There is a good chance that Checo can make it back-to-back wins in Baku after his Monaco triumph. He revealed why he loves racing in the street circuits in F1 and performs his best there.

“I like street circuits because that’s where the driver can really make a difference. Of course, it’s easier to make a mistake when you try to go to the limit. Ultimately, that will give you the tenths you need to be competitive,” said Checo.
