Max Verstappen became the Formula One world champion for the first time in 2021. The Red Bull driver dominated the season by winning 10 races and securing 10 pole positions. He became Red Bull’s first world champion since Sebastian Vettel won the title four years in a row from 2010 to 2013.
Verstappen had tremendous success with the team, as he previously became the youngest driver to win a race. The Dutchman became the world champion at the age of 24 years and 73 days, making him the fourth-youngest champion in F1 history.
Vettel remains the youngest world champion, as he won when he was 23 years and 133 days in 2010. Interestingly, according to Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, the Dutch driver is the best Red Bull driver of all time.

“Yes, without a doubt, he is. What makes him stand out the most? He doesn’t need a warm-up [lap]. If it rains somewhere, the others do five or eight laps. Then Max goes out and sets the fastest time on the first lap,” said Marko.
“Or Jeddah–nobody knew the track. The others were driving again, Max goes out… bang! Three times [fastest sector]. That is one of his fascinating qualities,” said Helmut.
