Sebastian Vettel is one of the most talented drivers on the Formula One grid. The German has won four world titles, but apart from being one of the most decorated drivers on the grid. Vettel is a person that cares about the Earth, this was evident at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone where he picked litter.

This had on domino effect on the fan base of Formula One, as at the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Spectators in the grandstands who wore the Aston Martin gear picked up litter left behind by other fans.

The German driver had a disappointing race at the British GP as he suffered a DNF. But that didn’t dampen his mood, as he took the time to go to the grandstands, and take out the garbage left behind by the fans.

Speaking to Jenson Button, he said, “No exactly really great to see. So again, the focus was not on okay I want to spread a message to people, to inspire. It was more actually to get rid of the litter in the first place. And, you know together with Silverstone I asked “Can I help you?,” and they said, “Yeah you can.”

“And, then we organized it in a silent way, obviously with Covid and so on. We couldn’t big noise either, but we had some people they were helping, and like I said that I was surprised that it had such a big impact and inspired so many people. I had young children writing, messaging that every time they go to the woods they pick up litter.”

“Back to square one, it’s about the responsibility that maybe Formula One carries running the show literally, making sure not as much litter is produced, and people could leave it behind. But, it’s also about our impact and everybody in the grandstands the garbage ends up in the bin and not flying somewhere,” Vettel concluded.
