Collecting their team’s cars is one of the things that F1 drivers really look forward to when they join a new team, especially ones that also manufacture road cars. So, naturally, we were expecting Sebastian Vettel to stock his garage with company road cars from his new employer, Aston Martin. But the German has other plans.
Vettel had the great privilege of driving for Ferrari for the past six years. This meant he received a plethora of lavish road cars like the LaFerrari and the Enzo model from them. However, he truly cut all ties with them as soon as he left.
Through reputed car dealer, Tom Hartley Jr, he put five of his Ferraris, among the eight cars in total, for sale. This also means that he has more room in the garage to add some iconic Aston Martin ones. However, to our surprise, the passionate collector hasn’t made his move yet.

“It’s good to have a little more space,” explained Vettel. (Translated via Google Translate)
“So far, I haven’t parked the cars on the roof either. And having less might fit in well with this time.”

Though, it isn’t out of respect for the brand and heritage of Aston Martin that he hasn’t added to his car collection. In fact, he is a huge James Bond fanatic like most of us. Agent 007 famously relies on the British manufacturer to get him quickly to his destination whenever he’s serving Her Majesty and saving the country.
“It’s a great story. I’ve seen every movie, some twice. The James Bond thing is a little part of it, it’s cool,” Vettel remarked.

Vettel has been giving a personal touch to his F1 cars ever since his Red Bull days. With the James Bond association, it gives him the impetus to name the AMR21 after one of the characters from the movie series.

“I’m thinking about it and playing around with the Bond theme, but it’s a fun thing, and it’s always been a female name, so check out all the Bond girls to see which one is the best match.”
Let’s hope he has as much fun driving the car as he has when naming it.
