Sebastian Vettel will soon arrive at the end of his lifelong dream of driving for the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team. In his six-year stint, it looked like Vettel was having a great time during Maurizio Arrivabene’s reigning as the team principal, and the two built a very strong relationship.
However, the same cannot be said in terms of the current relationship between Vettel and Mattia Binotto. Their relationship has been a mystery, as the two have been rather quiet.
There was never a scenario where either Vettel or Mattia shared their emotions with each other. Hence, an obvious question rose into the people’s heads. Did the two really enjoy working together in the same team?

What did Sebastian Vettel say about Mattia?
Well, Vettel opened up that despite the two having respect toward each other, building the relationship was never an option for his team principal.
“We respect each other a lot. But between us, there has never been that sort of love at the basis of relationships of a certain type,” he said.
“He is a pragmatic man. Time will tell us where the Ferrari driven by him will be in the future.”
Last year, it looked like Mattia and Vettel were finally strengthening their ties. However, it never really reached that stage, as an awful 2020 season came in their way.
Apart from the terrible season, Vettel’s sacking made things worse, as it turned out to be a rarity to witness the German hanging out with Mattia from thereon.

Apparently, Vettel has been following Mattia since his entry into Formula 1 with Toro Rosso in 2007. Hence, it is quite obvious that Vettel might know more about him than a few others. The German opened up about the Ferrari Team principal’s growth in Formula 1.
“I met him for the first time when I was racing with Toro Rosso. He was in charge of the Ferrari client engines we mounted. I have experienced his growth closely, from the engine department to technical director and then to team principal,” he said.

However, Vettel will not beat himself up for the way he will end his term with Ferrari. This is primarily because he has Aston Martin eagerly waiting for his arrival next season.
Hence, it is more likely that Vettel will hit it off and develop a strong bonding with the team. Consequently, it should get the German back up to his feet and help him chase after more race victories and even championship titles.
