The 2020 season of Formula 1 has witnessed a terrible turn of events for the Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. The 4-time World Champion himself has suffered an abysmal season.

The last time Vettel failed to get a win, pole position or the fastest lap was way back in the 2007 season. The German is making a switch to Aston Martin for the 2021 season. Aston Martin could help bring Vettel back to his old championship form.

Racing Point’s Chief Technology Officer Andrew Green in an interview with Auto Motor Sport opened up about his views on Vettel’s strengths, weaknesses, and what he expects from the German Champion.

Green confident about helping Sebastian Vettel regain his former shine

Green acknowledged Vettel’s current predicament and expressed how eagerly the team awaits the opportunity of having him as their point man. He also declared that with the right people and car he could very well find his way back to glory.

“We’re all looking forward to him. The whole team wants him. He will feel that. You just have to have the right car and the right people around you to do your job.

“Obviously he’s having problems right now. We can offer it what it needs to return to its old form,” declared Green.

On being asked whether Vettel’s problems are more psychological than technical, he replied, “I would say it’s a combination of both. It is difficult to judge what percentage one has and the other.”

Green also mentioned that every single employee will be motivated by Vettel’s presence in the team. Furthermore, hosting a world champion after being close to bankruptcy is a testament to the team’s hard work.

He said, “It is also an appreciation of the people who work here. We deserve it. We were facing bankruptcy 18 months ago. This team almost didn’t exist anymore. And now a world champion wants to drive for us.

Green believes that with Aston Martin, Vettel can experience his glory days once again. Owing to only a few test days in 2021, the team is excited to adapt and prepare the car around Vettel’s convenience to offer him a machine worthy of winning the World Championship.
