Sebastian Vettel is all set to continue with his tradition of naming his car, and fans couldn’t be happier. The Aston Martin driver has always named the F1 cars he has driven in each season. There were fears that this tradition may die out at the Silverstone-based outfit, but it is not so.

At the drivers’ press conference ahead of the race in Bahrain, Vettel revealed the name he has christened his AMR21 with.

The German driver revealed that he shall be calling his newest machine, “Honey Rider.”

This name is taken from a James Bond movie, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, the franchise is famous for flaunting Aston Martin cars. It’ll be interesting to see if “Honey Rider” can do a better job than the 4-times world champions’ ex, “Lucilla.”

Sebastian Vettel is relaxed despite imperfect testing session

The start of the season hasn’t kicked off well for Sebastian. It appears that his ill luck from his final Ferrari campaign has followed him to Aston Martin.

The German had limited running during the tests due to a gearbox problem. Moreover, the car’s performance also wasn’t what was expected, albeit pre-season pace must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Vettel was open to admitting that fact and had mentioned previously he is yet to get to grips with “Honey Rider”. However, he isn’t stressing about his tough start.

He said (translated via Google), “We may not have made the number of laps we wanted, but I don’t think anyone is prepared as they would like.”

“Hopefully we can make good use of the track time to prepare for qualifying and race. I immediately felt good in the Aston Martin. There are still a few things I need to get used to, but that will happen after a while. I am relaxed.”

Sebastian would want to get his chapter with Aston Martin to the best possible start in Bahrain. As such, he would want to at least finish in the top 5. However, it’ll be easier said than done.

In a 4-team fight in the mid-field, Vettel knows how important it is to get off to a flier. If he stumbles early on, he might lose precious ground in the battle for the best of the rest.
