Sebastian Vettel quit Formula One in 2022 and is well missed by everyone. And to make things interesting, he has claimed to be missing the sport too. This brings up many questions. If he will really return to Formula 1? Which team will he return to? Will it be Mercedes, who has an open slot and a budget to spend, or Red Bull, where he has experience and Sergio Perez is almost out of his contract?

To answer this question, who can be better than Sebastian Vettel himself? Sky Sports News interviewed the 4-time world champion, and during this exchange, he was asked if he would be “in the market for a 2025 seat.” Responding to this, the German claimed, “Well, potentially I am because I haven’t got a drive, but the question is, am I looking for one? I think it depends on the package”, making it clear that he would like to get back on the grid if the right offer is made.

Explaining his stance while quitting Formula One, Sebastian Vettel added, “I retired from Formula 1 not to come back, but I also did say that you never know. So I think it still stands.” His statements brought joy to several fans, as many were not ready to believe that 2022 was the last we saw of him. Whether Vettel will be on the grid is something he and the teams will decide, meanwhile, we can only wait for more of Vettel’s narrative on returning to Formula One.

Where might Sebastian Vettel go if he returns to Formula One?

On the note of what team he will be joining, Sebastian Vettel has confirmed that he has been talking to Mercedes. Toto Wolff had a quick word with Vettel about joining the team, as what would be better than replacing a world champion with another? That being said, the German driver gave some insights on their conversation, stating, “I’ve had conversations with him (Wolff), not really about the seat. We did speak about the whole situation in short as well.”

Beyond that, he mentioned some “projects and ideas” that he would like to carry out with Formula One. So far, nothing has been confirmed about him getting back on the grid.
