The decision is the ultimate power. Decisions decide destiny, there is no action without a decision. Lance Stroll met with a cycling accident before the 2023 pre-season Bahrain testing. The accident resulted in the Canadian fracturing both his wrists and his right foot toe. Up until a day before the 2023 Bahrain GP, it was still unsure whether Stroll would be able to race during the weekend. Mike Krack recently revealed that they were ready to substitute the Canadian in case he wasn’t able to make it in time. He also explained how Aston Martin was tempted to call Sebastian Vettel up in case Stroll didn’t make it but refrained from it anyways due to the respect for Vettel’s decision to spend more time with family.
