Sebastian Vettel has had a disastrous start to the campaign in his final season with Ferrari so far. The 4-time World Champion has only managed to accumulate a meager 16 points from 7 races.
This is the first time since 2008 that Vettel hasn’t bagged a podium in the first 7 rounds of an F1 season. Moreover, Ferrari haven’t been the most helpful either.
Social media has been awash with memes, as we have seen Vettel take on the role of strategist and mechanic over the course of the 2020 Formula 1 season.

Perhaps out of frustration with the team and his car, the German has just decided that the best way to get back to winning races is by buying a legendary F1 car of yesteryear.
And thus, Vettel has managed to get his hands on the iconic Williams FW14B. This car helped Nigel Mansell win his first and only F1 World Championship title in 1992. The FW14B won an unbelievable 10 (out of 16) races during that season (9 by Mansell, 1 by his teammate Riccardo Patrese).
Surely, even an F1 car of 28 years ago would be faster than Ferrari’s SF1000. Perhaps Vettel’s next move will be to get the FW14B a nice red paint job and field it for the race in Monza. Besides, he wouldn’t even have to change the ‘number 5.’
While the price of the purchase hasn’t been disclosed, you could bet your bottom dollar on the fact that it doesn’t come anywhere near the realm of the term ‘cheap.’ A similar FW14B was sold for a whopping €3 million by ‘Bonhams’ last year. So go figure.

Can Sebastian Vettel finish among the Top-10 in Monza?
Maybe if he had the option of using his newly acquired Williams, he could clinch a Top-10 finish. But unfortunately for him, he’ll be stuck in the cockpit of the lackluster SF1000.

With the Monza circuit given the appropriate moniker of ‘Temple of Speed,’ Ferrari and Vettel could struggle big time there. If you thought Spa was a nightmare, Monza could prove a whole lot worse.
The Ferrari was caught slacking on the straights in Spa, so much so that they were passed by the Alfa Romeo, now coming to a track famed for its long straights, it could be a very long and gruesome weekend for Vettel and the Prancing Stallion.
