The Haas F1 team had two rookies in the 2021 season. Both of their drivers, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, were prone to making mistakes while driving the car. But now, they have a year of experience under their belt and many expect the two to improve and move up the grid. However, Mick’s uncle and former F1 driver, Ralf Schumacher, believes that won’t be enough.
Schumacher mentioned that the American team won’t get the car development from the young drivers. He especially mentioned that the team won’t get the level of input it requires from Mazepin.

Ralf Schumacher gives his take on Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin
As reported by Motorsport-Turkey, the former F1 racer stated he hopes Haas could provide a car to showcase the talents and skill of his nephew Mick. Last season, the American team could not score even a single point throughout the entire season.
“The team now has to lay a foundation for him to win. Then it will all be about how Mick handles this situation. Right now he’s riding relatively alone. Despite his young age, he needs to direct the team’s development and make decisions,” said Ralf on Mick.

“Because Nikita is someone who can drive fast sometimes, but is generally uninspired. So I’m not quite sure if he and Mick are the right person in a developing team to develop the new car,” said Schumacher on Mazepin.
He also mentioned Mick has improved a lot from his previous season, both professionally and personally. “He learned a lot in the last year. If something goes wrong with the team, he immediately apologizes to his team and continues to work,” said Ralf.
