Lewis Hamilton’s future in Formula One is still clouded in mystery. The Mercedes driver has not spoken to the media since the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi last month. There have been reports that he might call it quits. If this is the outcome, then former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher believes that Sebastian Vettel may replace the 7-time world champion at Mercedes.
Ralf mentioned Vettel has the experience needed at the Mercedes AMG team as the potential replacement. He also mentioned that Vettel, who is currently driving for Aston Martin, has still got the hunger to fight for wins and championships.

Sebastian Vettel knows the Mercedes car or the engine: Ralf Schumacher
As reported by Sky. Sport. de, the former Williams driver mentioned that the four-time world champion has got some experience of the workings of Mercedes.
“The experience that Sebastian has, the speed that he still has. And above all, he knows the Mercedes car–or the engine. And I think the Aston Martin concept is also very close. That would, of course, be a possibility, especially since there has now been a change in personnel at Aston Martin, which may not be quite as ideal for Sebastian. Because I think Otmar Szafnauer and he – that was a good team,” said Ralf.

Although it is still unclear whether Hamilton will leave the Mercedes team in 2022, this is an interesting take.
“Obviously if he had an opportunity to get into this team, then he would take it 100 percent because a bigger chance of competing for the World Cup again – that’s what Sebastian wants. He wants to win races. He showed that too. A is not gone yet and Lewis Hamilton B has a few other talents up his sleeve,” said the former F1 driver.
