The entire racing world is familiar with the Schumacher brothers. While Ralf Schumacher was a decent driver, Michael is an absolute legend. However, it seems another Schumacher name is expected to pop up in the Formula 1 traffic. Michael’s son, Mick Schumacher is expected to step up and join Formula 1. Alfa Romeo is allegedly eyeing Nico Hulkenberg to guide the youngster.

The German believes that Alfa Romeo would be making some changes in the driver units from the next season. Alfa Romeo emphasizes on an experienced driver and a newcomer. Mick Schumacher is a part of Ferrari’s driver development program and would be looking forward to injecting Mick in the long race.

Ferrari and Alfa Romeo have a good relationship between them. The dynamic between the two might make the infusion feasible. While it is alleged that Nico Hulkenberg would be making a comeback. Therefore pitching Mick alongside Nico would satisfy their racing principle too.

“Everyone knows about the close co-operation between Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, it would make sense to place a newcomer there. I also think they are looking for two new drivers, an experienced man, and a promising driver. Maybe negotiations are already underway with Hulkenberg”, the German stated.

What lies ahead for Nico Hulkenberg?

Hulkenberg made a comeback for Racing Point this year for two Grands Prix. Sergio Perez had tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Hulkenberg stepped in. His prolific form flamed his demand overnight and speculations are high regarding his complete come back next season.

Mick has already driven for Ferrari and Alfa Romeo at in-season testing in Bahrain in 2019. However, he is not the only one with the prospect. Britain’s Callum Ilott and Russia’s Robert Shwartzman are also the available options. Therefore, bearing the Schumacher tag might not be enough to make Ferrari go all out for Mick.

Ferrari would want to invest in a long term plan instead of playing the favoritism card. Given the current mess the Italian side is in, Mattia Binotto needs to put on his thinking cap before he takes any proper decisions.
