Back-to-back podiums and an astonishing start by Aston Martin have come as a serendipity for F1 fans. The Silverstone-based outfit has recently prompted significant discussion among F1 enthusiasts about how a backfield team may expand substantially over the winters to pose a challenge to the bigger manufacturers.

Although we had all considered the possibility that the inclusion of an ex-Red Bull employee in the Aston Martin may have brought “Red Bull” experience to make the significant change, accusing them was another matter. While analyzing the new AMR 23, the Lawrence Stroll team has faced accusations of “copying” the Red Bull design. Despite the barrage of scathing accusations, we now know the true reason for Fernando Alonso‘s success.

Aston Martin had only 55 points the previous year and came in seventh. Nevertheless, the inclusion of former Red Bull aerodynamicist, Dan Fallows, has helped Aston Martin taste the podiums, and that too consecutively. Nonetheless, their success has earned them the tag of being “Red Bull-copied,” as Sergio Perez sarcastically remarked following Alonso’s third-place performance in the Bahrain Grand Prix. He said, “It’s good to have three Red Bull guys on the podium.” The Mexican indirectly took a jibe at the Silverstone-based team. The modified side pods and the leading edge of the floor of AMR23 bear a striking resemblance to Red Bull’s last year’s vehicle.

Nevertheless, after several accusations, Tom McCullough, the team’s performance director, now reveals the true cause of the team’s success. As per lasexta, Tom said, “I wanted to do what Dan calls the ‘Aston Martin style’. Which is to listen to everything, listen to all the team members, be given all the different ways to develop a car, and then see where we need to improve and see what we think is the best way to do it. That’s something I think Dan has been very good at. Saying you always have to look at what others are doing. But you have to do it your way if you want to beat them.”

Fernando Alonso failed horribly for two years in a row when he returned to the Formula 1 grid in 2021. He expected to regain the same speed and lethal attitude on the F1 tracks with Alpine. However, now he has a team that can compete for the top spots. Therefore, after Perez made the accusations, he came up with an explanation.

Fernando Alonso hits back at Sergio Perez on Red Bull copying claims

Alonso had struggled with Alpine but is now having a good time with Aston Martin. After the first two races with the Silverstone-based team, he has taken home two podium finishes. Something he hadn’t done in the previous two years with the French outfit. And before the Saudi Grand Prix, the two-time champion decided to retaliate against Sergio Perez’s copying claims.

As per express.co.uk Nando said, “I don’t care about the comments at all,” Alonso said. “I’m focused on my team, but you can clearly see at a glance that there are differences between the two cars. Visually they are different. An example of this is that Mercedes says that 50 percent of our car is theirs and Red Bull says that 50 percent of the car is theirs. But there can be no more different concepts than those two.”

Adding further, the Spaniard said, ” That clearly indicates that neither of the two theories is true. We have a different concept than those two cars. Although it is true that visually all the cars look a bit alike. The Ferrari, the Haas and the Alfa Romeo look very similar to each other.”
