Sergio Perez made one of the best comebacks in recent Formula 1 history. An incident involving Charles Leclerc saw him drop to the end of the grid at the starting lap. However, the Mexican showed incredible endurance and focus as he claimed his debut Formula 1 win.

Sergio Perez came tantalizingly close to a podium finish last weekend. However, a late engine failure saw him retire from the race as Alex Albon took P3. At Sakhir Grand Prix, he refused to back down even after a massive blow in the first lap of the race.

However, as it stands currently, Sergio Perez does not have a seat in Formula 1 next season. He is being replaced by Sebastian Vettel next season as Racing Point rebrands themselves as Aston Martin.

“He’s been an asset for this team a long time before I’ve arrived.

“I think he most definitely proves every weekend he deserves to be in the car next year and I hope he’s in that Red Bull next year,” he further added.

“They were 400 guys, half the amount of staff of most of our competition, less than half of the budget, and they managed to finish a couple of years fourth in a row. So it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that they’re able to accomplish this today,” he said.

Sergio Perez has made a strong point that he is highly competitive on the grid and has catapulted himself into P4 of the driver standings. He has also clarified that if he doesn’t come back to Formula 1 next year, he will definitely be back in 2022.
