Sebastian Vettel had yet another disappointing weekend at Sochi this afternoon. Vettel wanted to be among the leaders today as he had mentioned earlier this week. However, the race did not pan out as the German had hoped.
Ferrari’s customers had Vettel trapped after the German got off to a poor start. Vettel had the worst qualifying experiences yesterday. He crashed at Turn 2 and damaged his car severely.
That entangled him in the middle order of the grid and kept him away from the points. The German had specifically stressed on how important it will be to start higher in the grid. However, it was unfortunate for him as the events unfolded.

Sebastian Vettel embarrassed after being stuck amidst customer teams.
Sebastian Vettel came in for a quick post-match interview and revealed what went wrong on the track. He clarified how the initial drama on the track could have benefitted him. This dejected Vettel as he knew he could have done better had he not been at the bottom.
“I had not a great first lap and couldn’t really benefit from other people’s crashes and collisions. After that I was stuck, couldn’t overtake, I really struggled. I think that would’ve changed the race, but I didn’t manage though. Not good enough,” replied the German

The 4-time World Champion was DNFed last year at Sochi. Although he completed the race this time around, it didn’t count for much. Vettel finished 13th between Kimi Raikkonen and Kevin Magnussen at Sochi this afternoon.

Though he hoped for this Sunday to turn out better than the past ones, he was up for another turndown. Vettel suffered a series of comfort issues with the car. Besides this, several other reasons have contributed to Vettel’s poor form this season.
He faced a lot of criticism after his poor form at Monza and Mugello. He was desperate for a considerably better position at Sochi. However, it was not his day.
The reporter also questioned him regarding his take on the race. She asked him what would he have done differently if he got a second chance. “I don’t know. I would pit sooner. There was no point to stay out,” replied Vettel.

Drama and shock was a major part of the proceedings at Sochi today. The fans were allowed into the stadiums for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic and enjoyed quite a feast for their eyes and their spirit of racing.
