After Lando Norris made contact with the wall in Q1 and bowed out after taking damage to his front left tire, the responsibility of delivering a good result fell on rookie Oscar Piastri’s shoulders. The former F2 champion made the most of the opportunity and drove the team into Q3 with a struggling car. The Aussie driver, however, failed to build on the P8 starting position as a chaotic start saw him take damage. Moreover, his first lap incident possibly compromised any good result Lando could have achieved.

Piastri’s arrival at McLaren in itself was nothing short of a great saga. From a legal battle to a multi-million dollar lawsuit threat, the drama had it all. However, McLaren CEO Zak Brown had his eyes on his man and he wanted him at any cost. Netflix’s F1 docuseries Drive to Survive even showed how involved Brown was in the entire process. However, this newfound love for Oscar is probably not something that Norris is taking too well to.
