Haas is rumored to be on the lookout for new drivers. They are reportedly considering to ax the incumbents Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen for 2021. The former’s seat especially appears to be under threat. Not even his impressive P9 finish at the Eifel Grand Prix can save him.
Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has made it clear that they won’t be taking the results of the previous race into consideration when it comes to deciding a driver lineup for next year.
He said, “We cannot be this emotional, that we can go from race to race and decide on and off, you know. As I always said, it’s a decision for the long term, not for the short term. And I don’t want to fall in that trap.”

Furthermore, he said, “I stay very stable on that one. It’s what I always said: we want to evaluate how can the team perform, or how we think the team can perform best, with which drivers in the next two to three, four years.”
If Steiner’s statements are to be believed, then Grosjean would most likely have his head in the chopping block. Considering the talents that are emerging from F2, along with the likes of Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg being uncontracted, even the younger Magnussen may not be spared.
Haas definitely seem to be spoilt for choice. It will be quite a task to pick a driver lineup from the names that are available.

Steiner believes the team’s performance in Germany will really boost the morale. According to Steiner, it was a small gift for the amount of work every team member puts in.

He said, “We moved one point closer to Alfa Romeo. But it’s mainly for the guys. For everybody it’s just a good feeling. It keeps everybody motivated and I think they all did a good job over the weekend.
“It feels great, I must admit, and it’s very important. But not only for the position of the championship but also for the morale of the people,” he added.
“They work week in, week out, just to try to get a little bit of happiness out of the weekend. And we got some happiness.”

Perhaps the Portuguese Grand Prix, on the 25th of October, might provide us with an answer.
